Sixers rising star Tyrese Maxey ranked as 52nd best player in the NBA
As the 2022-23 season continues to rapidly approach, final player rankings are setting the standard for who the best in the league are. This gives everybody a better idea of where each player is and how they are viewed around the league.
Philadelphia 76ers rising star Tyrese Maxey is turning heads; he has been terrific to begin his career. He had an impressive second season during which he had to overcome significant challenges. He averaged 17.5 points, and he shot 42.9% from deep. That 3-point percentage improved to 48% after the All-Star break when James Harden joined the team.
As he gets set for the 2022-23 season, he is expected to help Harden and Joel Embiid lead the team. A ranking done by Sports Illustrated has Maxey ranked 52nd just behind Mikal Bridges of the Phoenix Suns, who was ranked 51st.

Ben Simmons’s absence opened a pathway for 21-year-old Maxey to arrive ahead of schedule as a full-time player. Armed with a crafty scoring arsenal, Maxey answered two of the key questions that followed him into the NBA: Yes, he can play some point guard, and yes, he’s also more than competent shooting jumpers, making an impressive 42.7% from three on more than four attempts per game. His minutes may need to be staggered with James Harden’s to optimize both, but where his play goes from here could considerably raise the 76ers’ ceiling.
Maxey has been terrific to begin the preseason. He has 41 points through the first two games, and he has only played a half in each game. The expectations for the third-year guard out of Kentucky continue to rise, and it will be interesting to see what he will do for an encore after strong second season.
