Sixers met with 3 potential draft picks at draft combine in Chicago

At the moment, the Philadelphia 76ers do not own a draft pick in the 2022 NBA draft. The No. 23 pick they would have in this draft belongs to the Brooklyn Nets at the moment due to the James Harden trade, but they can still have that pick if the Nets decide to wait to use the pick until 2023. They have until June 1 to make that decision.

However, the Sixers are preparing in case the Nets decide to wait. If Brooklyn were to delay using the pick until 2023, the Sixers would have to be ready with some prospects they want to take a look at.

At the NBA draft combine in Chicago, the Sixers met with at least three potential draft picks per Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer:

MarJon Beauchamp, G League Ignite

Beauchamp averaged 15.1 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 30% from deep in 12 games for the Ignite. He brings a lot of length to the table. He 6-foot-6 and athletic, which is what Philadelphia needs on the wings.

Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire has Beauchamp going to the Denver Nuggets at No. 21 in his latest mock draft:

Beauchamp, a former four-star recruit from Yakima Valley College, has been arguably the top prospect on the Ignite this season. He has dazzled at times on the defensive end with his athleticism and length and has looked to be a willing defender with his energy and effort. He will need to continue to work on his 3-point shooting, after converting on 24.2% of his attempts last season, but has the tools in place to be a rotation player at the next level.

Bryce McGowens, Nebraska

In his freshman season with the Cornhuskers, McGowens averaged 16.8 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 40.3% from the floor. He only shot 27.4% from deep on 4.7 attempts, which is not what the Sixers need, but he has nice size at 6-foot-7.

Taylor at Rookie Wire has McGowens going No. 26 to the Dallas Mavericks in his mock draft:

McGowens, who averaged 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 31 games, ranked third in the country among true freshmen in scoring and was first in made free throws (162). He recorded 11 20-point games this season and posted the highest scoring average by a freshman in conference play (17.3) since D’Angelo Russell during the 2014-15 season. The Mavericks could look to add a known scorer at this point of the draft, and McGowens appears to be a good fit.

Terquavion Smith, North Carolina State

Smith averaged 16.3 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 36.9% from deep on 8.1 attempts as he showed that he isn’t afraid to let it fly from the perimeter while also knocking them down at a solid clip. He would be a solid bench piece if the Sixers kept the pick.

Taylor has Smith going No. 32 in the draft to the Orlando Magic in his mock draft.
