Simone Biles shares video of destination wedding with Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles is a seven-time Olympic medalist, but she said her destination wedding this past weekend was her biggest moment yet. Biles and her husband, Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens, said "I do" on Saturday in Cabo San Lucas.

“I actually felt so sick the entire day, and when it was almost time to walk, my heart was beating out of my chest,” Biles told Vogue. “I’ve never been so nervous before in my life. [But,] I felt confident walking down the aisle. Seeing Jonathan at the altar was a dream. Our guests were cheering for everyone. I was shocked by the love in the air."

The superstar gymnast shared a video to Instagram on Tuesday of the special day, including scenes of her getting ready with her bridesmaids where she wore a necklace that said "Owens," the beachside ceremony and the glamorous reception. The bride and groom were all smiles as their bridal party cheered them on in champagne dresses and green suits. She wore a lace corseted ball gown dress with her hair flowing and a bouquet of white flowers.

"A look into our most special day," she wrote with a white heart emoji, tagging videographer Tony Pombo. "I love being able to relive this day over & over."

She also posted pictures to Twitter, showing her walking down the aisle with her father and Owens getting visibly emotional.

The wedding was attended by 144 guests and the couple recited personalized vows and jumped the broom as part of the ceremony. The reception featured a red velvet wedding cake and an ice cream groom's cake from Dairy Queen. There were actual fireworks as the sparks flew between Biles and Owens.

The couple formally wed last month in a civil ceremony in Houston. Biles said that they needed to be legally married before traveling to their destination wedding.

Biles celebrated her 26th birthday and broke ground on a home with Owens in March. They first made their relationship public in 2020 and announced their engagement in February 2022 when the superstar gymnast posted a photo of Owens proposing to her. They shared engagement photos with fans in November.

Biles was one of USA TODAY's 2022 Women of the Year after she withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics and spoke up about the importance of mental health.
