Signing Day, December 2021: What Robert Morris football gets from La Salle's J.J. Ruffin

First-Team All-Ohio selection J.J. Ruffin dominated offenses all year and as a reward, got to sign a letter of intent to play football at Robert Morris University.

The 6-foot-3-inch linebacker had 70 tackles in 2021, good for fourth in the Greater Catholic League South. The senior's 7.5 sacks were third-highest in the league.

As a junior in 2020, Ruffin had 5.5 sacks, giving him 13 for his career in 20 games. Those 5.5 sacks came in a three-game stretch where he had 1.5 sacks against Stebbins before having a pair of sacks against Anderson and Winton Woods.

In 2021, Ruffin had two multiple-sack games, scoring 2.5 against Indianapolis Cathedral and two against Anderson. Ruffin opened the year with 11 tackles (and one sack) in the 20-14 win against Colerain.

Ruffin is an athlete who also competes on the basketball court. As of his signing day, Ruffin leads the GCL South in field-goal percentage and is top five in scoring and rebounding averages.
