Siena Heights volleyball finishes opening invite, 3-1

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Siena Heights volleyball team wrapped up its opening weekend at the Keiser Invite with a split as the Saints beat Campbellsville in three and fell in four games to St. Thomas.

SHU (3-1) began the season with a 3-0 mark behind nine-straight set wins as it swept Campbellsville, 25-20, 25-18, 25-15.

Taylor Wegener had 11 kills, 11 digs, two aces and a block in the win while Aubrey Bates had 32 assists, five kills, five digs, three blocks and two aces. Olivia Norman added seven kills, four blocks, two digs and two assists.

St. Thomas handed the Saints their first set loss to open the final match of the weekend as it beat SHU 25-13, 22-25, 25-22, 25-10.

Wegener had 14 kills, six digs and a block while Norman had eight kills and four blocks. Bates had 33 assists, seven digs, five blocks and three kills.

Payton Osborne had 25 digs, two assists and an ace.

The Saints will be off until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Huntington.
