Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Both teams are off the mark now and can certainly take a lot of positives from today's game. There were bright league debuts for Archer and Beto who can make a big difference to their respective clubs this season. After the international break, Everton host Arsenal at Goodison Park where they have a fairly good record against the Gunners, while Sheffield United travel to north London to face Tottenham Hotspur.

That was a brilliant game of football, and despite both of these teams starting the game without a point, there were moments of real quality - and sheer luck! Everton took the lead through Doucoure before United pulled a goal back thanks to a brilliant finish from Archer. The striker then rattled the woodwork before the ball unluckily ricocheted into the net off Pickford’s back. But Everton found an equaliser through Danjuma, who was sharp throughout the game but lacked composure in front of goal until that moment. Pickford then made a terrific double-save right at the death to stop McBurnie from snatching a winner. Both teams, especially Everton, will be satisfied with a point.
