Seton Hall 90, Lafayette 58
Seton Hall won for the fifth time in its last six games with a 90-58 victory over visiting Lafayette Friday night at the Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J.
The Pirates, who improved to 9-4 and scored 90 points for the second straight game, were led by senior center Eugene Teague's game-high 18 points. Lafayette, which fell to 4-7, was playing without its leading scorer, junior guard Seth Hinrichs, out indefinitely with a left knee injury.
With 14:42 left to play in the game, Teague left the game on a stretcher after falling awkwardly to the floor on his left shoulder going for a layup. Teague, who made seven of eight from the floor and grabbed 11 rebounds, was placed in a neck immobilizer and was responsive when he was carted off the court.
Seton Hall never trailed. The game was over by halftime. Everything went right for the Pirates, who went into intermission with its largest lead, 47-15. Over the first 20 minutes, Seton Hall made 18 of 33 shots (54 percent), while Lafayette struggled, making just six of 31 (19 percent) for a season-low 15 points in the first half.
Lafayette went over seven minutes without scoring in the half. During that span, Seton Hall went on a 19-0 run to take firm control of the game.
