See who made the Lafayette Journal & Courier's 2023 small school all-area baseball team
The Lafayette Journal & Courier's all-area baseball teams are comprised of players from the Greater Lafayette area.
Coaches are asked to nominate players from their own team, then a ballot is sent out asking those coaches to vote on the nominated players.
The Journal & Courier's Small School All-Area team is made up of players from Class A and 2A programs.

Chase Long, Delphi (Player of the Year)
The senior Queens University commitment provided stability behind the plate and at the plate, leading the Oracles to a regional championship. Long compiled a .446 batting average and .539 on base percentage while fielding at a .947 clip. Long was named to the Indiana North All-Star team after racking up 15 doubles, one triple, four home runs and scoring 35 runs to go with 36 runs batted in as a senior.
Andrew Colovos, North Newton
As a senior, Colovos showcased all his tools with a 0.76 earned run average in 18 1/3 innings, a .964 fielding percentage and a .494 batting average. Colovos reached base at a .541 clip and hit seven doubles, three triples and two home runs while stealing 19 bases, scoring 20 runs and driving in 25.
Luke Davison, Clinton Central
Davison carried a 2.04 earned run average with 50 strikeouts and 18 walks in 37 2/3 innings. He also hit .321 with a .578 on base percentage, adding nine doubles, one home run, 17 runs batted in, 29 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.
Evan Dienhart, Central Catholic
The senior shortstop scored the lone run in the Class A state championship game to help the Knights win their ninth state title. He hit .348 with 36 runs scored and had a .542 on base percentage.
Caleb Edwards, Seeger
The Patriots senior hit .467 and reached base at a .583 clip, hitting 12 doubles, three triples and one home run. Edwards drove in 27 runs, scored 37 more and stole 15 bases to go with a .994 fielding percentage.
Matthew Ford, Rossville
The junior pitched the Hornets to a sectional championship. Ford finished with a 6-6 record, 3.23 earned run average and had three saves, striking out 69 and walking 28 in 52 innings. Ford also hit .289 with one double, two triples and 14 runs batted in.
Luke Foxworthy, Fountain Central
The senior third baseman hit .464 with a .521 on base percentage for the Mustangs. Foxworthy had six doubles and eight stolen bases while scoring 22 runs and driving in 28.
Eli Harshbarger, Carroll
The junior center fielder hit .432 with a .500 on base percentage. Harshbarger hit eight doubles and stole 21 bases in addition to scoring 26 runs and driving in 16 more.
Jaxson Hixon, Delphi
The junior outfielder helped the Oracles win a regional title, hitting .390 with 14 doubles and one home run. Hixon had a .482 on base percentage, scoring 25 runs and also drove in 32 runs.
Kye Jacobs, Clinton Prairie
The only freshman on the all-area team was 3-2 on the mound with a 2.54 earned run average, striking out 69 with just 11 walks in 41 1/3 innings. At the plate, Jacobs hit .392 with a .489 on base percentage, compiling eight doubles, two triples, one home run, 24 runs scored, 19 RBI and 16 stolen bases.
Tyler Klemme, Benton Central
The Bison junior hit .430 and had a .562 on base percentage, clubbing eight doubles and three triples. Klemme drove in 16 runs and scored 30 more while stealing 11 bases.
Ben Mazur, Central Catholic
The Murray State recruit was the winning pitcher in the Class A state championship game for the second straight season. Mazur finished his senior season with an 8-0 record and 0.93 earned run average, striking out 86 and walking 18 in 53 innings. Mazur also supplied offense with a .342 average, five doubles, one triple, one home run and 26 runs batted in.
Braden McKay, West Central
McKay hit .431 with a .505 on base percentage, nine doubles, one triple and two home runs. He also stole 16 bases, drove in 31 runs and scored 19 times.
Gage Pearman, Covington
The Trojan senior hit .434 with a .527 on base percentage. Pearman hit three doubles and two home runs while stealing 20 bases. In addition to driving in 21 runs and scoring 28, he had a .940 fielding percentage.
Ryan Schummer, Central Catholic
The senior shifted from catcher to first base but still maintained his offensive power, five doubles, three triples and five home runs. Schummer was awarded the Class A Mental Attitude Award at the state finals and finished his season hitting .360 with 37 runs batted in.

Adrian Torres, Benton Central
The Bison junior hit .462 with a .553 on base percentage. Torres clubbed six doubles, one home run and scored 17 runs to go with 36 RBI.
Tanner Turnpaugh, Carroll
The Cougars' senior ace went 4-2 with one save, compiling a 2.42 earned run average, striking out 82 and walking 22 in 55 innings. Offensively, Turnpaugh added seven doubles, one triple and two home runs with a .325 average and a .427 on base percentage. He drove in 26 runs and scored 14 with nine stolen bases.
