See which Cincinnati boys lacrosse players earned All-Ohio honors

Now that the high school lacrosse season is over, postseason honors are rolling in.

Several Cincinnati boys lacrosse players earned All-Ohio honors Sunday night.

Earning first-team honors in Division I were Milford’s Luke Ray (midfield), St. Xavier’s Khalif Hocker (attack), Moeller’s Tommy Stines (defense) and Mason’s Gavin DeWitt (face-off). Hocker was the Bombers’ leading scorer as they lost in the state championship game to Dublin Jerome Saturday night. Jerome had five first-team picks.

Also for St. Xavier, senior Max Bonner was second-team all-state on defense. He is headed to play the sport for the University of Michigan.

Goalie Trent Yelton was named third-team all-state.

Bonner and Hocker were named to the USA All-American Team by USA Lacrosse, St. Xavier announced on Monday. The full list of All-American honorees has not been released.

Moeller, who lost to St. Xavier in the regional final, had two third-team selections in Joe Ginnetti (midfield) and Bo Hegarty (short-stick defensive midfield).

Milford had two second-team selections in Luke Barkimer on attack and Jacob Smith at long-stick midfield.

Jacob Wagner was third-team short-stick defensive midfield.

Mason, who lost to Moeller in the regional semis, had three other all-state selections. Michael Niere was second-team attack. Mason Levin was third-team defense and Aiden Schramm was third-team midfield.

Elder’s Max Stallmeyer was third team face-off, and Lakota East’s Ryan Barone was honorable mention defense.

In Division II, Mariemont, who lost in the state semifinals last week, had three first-team all-state selections in David Dorsten (attack), Mark Morgan (defense) and Luke Brennaman (goalie).

Evan Morgan was second-team all-state on attack for the Warriors.

Other locals earning first-team all-honors were Brady Nix of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (face-off), Indian Hills’ Mac Ward (long-stick midfield) and La Salle’s Grayson Schaad (short-stick defensive midfield).

CHCA, who was regional runner-up to Mariemont, had two other all-state picks. Jonah Lang was second-team attack and Will Saxby was third-team midfield.

Indian Hill had three other all-state picks. Wyatt Higgins was second-team defense. Alex Grace was third-team midfield and Penn Picton was third-team defense.

La Salle had a second-team pick in Andrew Schrudde (midfield).

Cincinnati Country Day had a second-team pick in Carson Yackey (goalie) and an honorable mention pick in Teagan Davis (long-stick midfield).

Turpin’s Luke Tully was third-team midfield.

All-region honors for boys lacrosse

In late May, the state coaches association released all-region teams for boys lacrosse.

In Division I, Region 4, St. Xavier’s Khalif Hocker was the player of the year and Mason’s Jeff Bumiller the coach of the year. Milford’s Jack Hannah was named the Man of the Year.

In Division II, Region 8, Mariemont’s senior defender Mark Morgan was the player of the year, and La Salle’s Jeffery Hughes was coach of the year. Walter Petry was Man of the Year.
