Section 9 girls soccer tournament schedules, results
A total of 27 schools qualified for the expanded Section 9 girls soccer tournament. Play begins on Monday, Oct. 23.
Class AAA was added this season, to go with AA, A, B, C and D. As a result, three sites will be utilized for the championship matches for the first time: D (Oct. 24) and AAA (Oct. 25) at Goshen High School; AA and B (both Oct. 29) at the Hudson Sports Complex in Warwick; and, A and C (both Oct. 28) at Wallkill High School.
The top seeds are state No. 7-ranked Monroe-Woodbury (AAA), No. 16 Washingtonville (AA), No. 13 Our Lady of Lourdes (A), unranked James I. O'Neill (B), No. 3 Mount Academy (C) and No. 20 Livingston Manor (D).
The sectional champs move on to the state tournament, which will culminate in the Final Four at four sites in the Cortland regionNov. 11-12.
Last year, the Section 9 winners were No. 2 Monroe-Woodbury (AA), No. 1 Goshen (A), No. 1 Lourdes (B), No. 2 Millbrook (C) and No. 1 Mount Academy (D). Mount Academy won the state title, Monroe-Woodbury and Millbrook lost in the state semifinals and Goshen and Lourdes lost in the first round
