Seahawks alter practice schedule to face Jaguars on short week

The Seattle Seahawks are desperate for a win after having dropped the last three contests on the national stage. This Sunday, they are set to host the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are just 1-5 on the season.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll isn’t counting on an easy battle, however, especially with Seattle coming off a Monday night contest. He’s had to tweak the team’s programming a bit to accommodate the schedule.

We have a short week turnaround, so we altered practice and the approach here a little bit, but it’s a serious week for us to get going and get a win,” Carroll told reporters Wednesday. “Really, it’s about one game and one game only. It always is, but it even seems more clear how the focus is really right. We start into it today, we’re underway, and we look forward to a pretty good return of guys to be healthy, I think. We need to put together a great week to get a win.”

When asked what he meant by “altered practice,” Carroll explained what he could.

“It’s a shortened week so we don’t get the normal rhythm,” he said. “We will do all of the same practice reps and get all of that done, but it’s a little different mode because the recovery time is less for the guys, so we took care of them in that regard.”

The Seahawks and Jaguars are set to kick off Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. PT.
