GORHAM, Maine - Marshwood High School junior Andre Clark won two events, including breaking his own state record in the 55-meter dash at Monday's Class A state championship boys track meet at the University of Southern Maine.

Clark defended his Class A title in the 55 with a time of 6.38. The time set a state meet record which was previously held by Scarborough's Jarret Flaker (6.46). Clark also broke his own state record, set last week.

Clark also won the 200 in a time of 22.85 seconds.

Marshwood placed seventh in the 22-team meet, scoring 37 points. South Portland won the championship with 53 points.

"(Clark) is such a hard worker and such a team guy, he really earned those medals today," Marshwood coach Matt Sanzone said. "Humble athlete and really works hard every day to work on the little things. He focuses on the mental approach and has a strong self-belief. He really believes in himself and his teammates."

Marshwood's Harrison Page placed fourth in the 400 (52.28), Shayne Sandler was sixth in the pole vault (11-6), and Henri Rivard was sixth in the mile (4:45.05).

Additionally, the 4x200 relay team of Clark, Page, Micaiah Perodin and Braden Gagnon was fourth in 1:35.83.

On the girls side, Maya Sanzone was the lone state medalist for the Hawks as she finished fifth in the mile in a personal-record time of 5:32.20.

"Maya ran a great race ... her best race ever," said coach Sanzone, her father. "She did a really nice job in a pretty stacked field to get on the podium there, so that was pretty awesome."
