Seacoast Roundup: Bell's 2 goals, 2 assists leads Dover hockey; Portsmouth track sweeps

DOVER - Carter Bell had two goals and two assists as the Dover High School boys hockey team beat St. Thomas Aquinas, 5-2 on Monday in a Division II game at Dover Ice Arena.

Grant Davis, Owen Culcasi and Caleb Marasca all scored a goal for Dover (3-2-3).

St. Thomas Aquinas' Jackson Estes had a goal and assist for St. Thomas Aquinas (3-5), while Connor Grey also scored.

BOYS HOCKEY

DOVER - Dom Eaton scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime for Portsmouth/Newmarket in a Division II game at Dover Ice Arena.

Patrick Slover had a goal and two assists in the win, while Eaton and Johnny Forrest both had one assist.

YORK, Maine - Reece MacDonald scored 24 points, Jack Joyce scored 13 points and Lukas Bouchard grabbed 14 rebounds in Class B York's win over Class C Traip. York is 11-1 on the season.

Ben Martine's 20 points led Traip.

KITTERY, Maine - Nya Avery scored 15 points, McKayla Kortes had 14 and Ava Brent 12 points for Class B York (8-4).

Freshman Rorie Ford's five points led Class C Traip.

Nada leads Portsmouth to win

DURHAM – Mariam Nada won three events and Portsmouth won a 10-team meet Sunday at the University of New Hampshire.

Portsmouth had a team score of 150 points. Newmarket and Salem tied for second with 44 points.

Nada won the 55 (7.55 seconds), 55 hurdles (9.16) and long jump (15 feet, 7.5 inches) for the Clippers. Portsmouth’s Maddy Houghton won the 1,000 (3:22.69) and two Clipper relay teams won.

The 4x400 team, consisting of Hailey Stallkamp, Alexa Baryiames, Lily Patterson, and Houghton, placed first in a time of 1:28.78. And the 4x160 team - Avery Timerman, Ginger Vinciguerra, Sylvia Guarracino, and Nada – won in a time of 1:28.78.

Somersworth scored 10 team points, placing 10th. Savanna Comeau was first in the high jump (4-10).

WHS girls place third

DURHAM – Senior Hayden James placed in the top four in three events, leading Winnacunnet to a third-place showing in a nine-team meet Sunday at UNH.

Bedford won the meet with 106.5 points, while Exeter (72) and Winnacunnet (66) placed second and third, respectively.

Adams placed second in the long jump (15-11.5), third in the 55 hurdles (9.62) and fourth in the high jump (4-8).

Winnacunnet’s Charlotte Koutalidis won the 1,500 (5:07.28), and Isabel Needham was second in the 300 (45.22), and Ava Burness was second in the 3,000.

Two Winnacunnet relay teams placed in the top three. The 4x160 team, comprised of Adams, Moxie Clifford, Maitri Clifford, and Hayren Reynoso-Santana, placed second (1:30.71); and the 4x400 team of Isla Christie, Maeva Ouellette, Natalia Goodwin, and McKinley Fowler, placed third in 4:32.47.

Other top-five performances for the Warriors were turned in by Carson Mariotti (fourth, 1,000, 3:18.45) and Moxie Clifford (fifth, 300, 46.47).

BOYS TRACK

Portsmouth wins 10-team meet

PORTSMOUTH – Portsmouth’s Josh Kelly won the 55 hurdles (8.37), and the Clipper 4x160-meter relay team also won, leading Portsmouth to a 10-team win Sunday at UNH.

Portsmouth scored 92 points, while Salem (76) was second.

The Portsmouth quartet of Ethan Lander, Deondre McAllister, Tyler Christo, Leo Guarracino won the 4x160 relay in 1:19.95.

Somersworth placed seventh with a team score of 21 points.

Tayshawn Sheppard placed second in both the long jump (18-2.75) and high jump (5-4), while Jacob Pincince was fourth in the 600 (1:38.04).

WHS places second at 11-team meet

DURHAM – The Warriors won two events and had a team score of 58 points, placing second in a 11-team meet at the University of New Hampshire. Bedford won with a score of 104.

Winnacunnet’s Ryan Zumbach won the 1,000 in 2:43.54 seconds, and Oliver Duffy won the high jump (5-8).

Nathan Dillon placed second in the 600 (1:34.29) for the Warriors, while Brady Corcoran was third in the 55 (6.97) and Ryan Jamison was third in the 55-meter hurdles (8.46).

Other top-five performances for the Warriors were turned in by Owen Janetos (fourth, 300, 38.2; fourth, 55, 6.98) and Sully Duffy (fifth, 600, 1:38.58).

Also, Winnacunnet’s 4x160-meter relay team, consisting of Corcoran, Erik Marelli, Harvey Reynoso-Santana, and Dillon, was fifth (1:21.15).
