Scores, schedule for IHSAA baseball sectionals across Southwestern Indiana

The IHSAA baseball state tournament begins this week with the sectional round.

Below is the schedule with results and recaps from select games in the Courier & Press coverage area. All times are CDT.

Class 4A at Bosse Field

Thursday, May 23: Central 2, Harrison 1

  • Josh Ferguson pitched a gem with 13 strikeouts and only two hits allowed. The Bears scored both runs in the fourth inning.

Saturday, May 25: Castle 5, North 2

  • Will Coleman struck out nine in a complete game and Noah Drake went 3 for 4 with a triple and double. North scored both of its runs in the first inning.

Saturday, May 25: Central 4, Reitz 1

  • The Bears scored three in the sixth, including back-to-back triples by Josh Ferguson and Jaxon Henke, to put away the Panthers

Monday, May 27: Castle 10, Central 7

  • The Knights sent four pitchers to the mound and held off a final push from the Bears, who had the bases loaded in the seventh. Noah Drake was 4 for 4 with two doubles and a triple.

Class 3A at Jasper

Wednesday, May 22: Jasper 12, Southridge 3

  • Andrew Noblitt, Jack Levin, Kai Kunz and Will Wallace hit home runs for the Wildcats

Wednesday, May 22: Vincennes Lincoln 6, Heritage Hills 1

  • Raden Benson went 3 for 3 at the plate and struck out 14 in a complete-game effort. Tanner Gilbert drove in three runs for the Alices.

Monday, May 27: Jasper 5, Vincennes Lincoln 2

  • AJ Huelsman hit a go-ahead 3-run homer in the sixth inning for the Wildcats

Monday, May 27: Washington 12, Pike Central 2 (5 innings)

  • Hatchets plate eight in the final inning to head to the championship. Trey James was 2 for 2 at the plate with 3 RBI and two runs.

Monday, May 27: Jasper 2, Washington 0

  • Kai Kunz struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings and Andrew Noblitt was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Class 3A at Princeton

Thursday, May 23: Memorial 10, Mount Vernon 0 (5 innings)

  • The Tigers had five pitchers combine for a perfect game. Thomas Lynch was 3 for 3 at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs.

Thursday, May 23: Gibson Southern 21, Bosse 0 (5 innings)

  • Karson Britton was 4 for 4 with a double and six RBIs. Five Gibson Southern pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts.

Monday, May 27: Memorial 4, Gibson Southern 1

  • Clark Gries twirled a gem with three hits allowed, one walk and six strikeouts in six innings

Monday, May 27: Boonville 8, Princeton 7

  • The Pioneers erase a 7-0 deficit in the final inning. Charlie Campbell hit the walk-off single for Boonville.

Monday, May 27: Memorial 10, Boonville 0 (6 innings)

  • The Tigers limited the Pioneers to only three hits. Alex Broshears hit a two-run home run and Thomas Lynch was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Class 2A at Sullivan

Wednesday, May 22: Linton-Stockton 3, Eastern Greene 2

  • Tyson Walker scored on an error to give the Miners a walk-off victory.

Wednesday, May 22: South Knox 7, North Knox 0

  • Jacob Allen pitched a two-hit shutout with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Monday, May 27: Linton-Stockton 2, South Knox 1

  • Blaike Husband allowed six hits and zero walks and struck out seven on the mound in the Miners victory.

Monday, May 27: Sullivan 7, Mitchell 6

  • Ty Hamilton hit the walk-off single for the Golden Arrows.

Monday, May 27: Linton-Stockton 4, Sullivan 3 (9 innings)

Class 2A at South Spencer

Wednesday, May 22: Mater Dei 4, Perry Central 0

  • Wildcats scored three in the sixth. Luke Mayer, Charlie Hoffman and Max Miller combined for 11 strikeouts and four hits allowed.

Wednesday, May 22: Tell City 5, Forest Park 3

  • Marksmen scored four in the first including a two-run double from Ross Melton. Rangers had the tying run at second in the seventh.

Saturday, May 25: Mater Dei 2, Tell City 0

  • Ethan Goodin pitched a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and hit a solo home run

Saturday, May 25: North Posey 14, South Spencer 5

  • The Vikings had 12 hits and scored eight in the sixth inning to pull away. Kade Buecher was 2 for 3 with a double, two walks and two RBIs.

Monday, May 27: North Posey 6, Mater Dei 4

  • The Vikings held off a final-inning rally – the Wildcats scored three and had the winning run at the plate – to advance. Caige Christie was 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs.

Class 1A at Loogootee

Wednesday, May 22: Loogootee 12, Orleans 2 (5 innings)

Wednesday, May 22: North Daviess 11, Shoals 1 (5 innings)

Monday, May 27: Loogootee 4, North Daviess 1

  • Seth Wagler pitches a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. Ethan Graber was 2 for 3 with a home run and double.

Class 1A at Northeast Dubois

Wednesday, May 22: Springs Valley 18, Wood Memorial 0

Wednesday, May 22: Evansville Christian 10, Northeast Dubois 9

  • The defending sectional champions held off a late rally to advance. Northeast Dubois scored five in the seventh and had the winning run at second. Kai Radke was 3 for 4 with two RBIs for ECS.

Monday, May 27: Evansville Christian 9, Springs Valley 8

  • The Eagles head back to the championship as Josiah Dunham hit the walk-off two-run home run.

Monday, May 27: Tecumseh 15, Cannelton 0 (5 innings)

  • Braydon Long was 3 for 3 at the plate with a home run, a double, 3 RBI and two runs. DJ DuPont and Mason Gogel also had extra base hits.

Monday, May 27: Tecumseh 12, Evansville Christian 3

  • DJ DuPont pitched a complete game and hit two home runs at the plate. The Braves won the rematch of last year's championship game.
