Here are Saturday's high school sports results for the Appleton and Green Bay area

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Homestead Joust

MEQUON - Appleton North went 5-1 and third for third place.

The Lightning beat Brookfield Central 25-16, 25-17; beat St. Thomas More 25-15, 25-10; and beat Slinger 25-22, 25-19.

In pool play, North beat Franklin 25-20, 23-25, 15-10 and Howards Grove 25-14, 25-17.

Oconomowoc beat the Lightning 25-16, 27-25 in the Gold Bracket semifinals.

Ella Demetrician had 79 kills and 41 digs, Teegan Charapata had 33 kills, four aces and 33 digs, Emerson Van Lannen had 20 kills, six Aces, 121 assists and 31 digs, and Maggie Hahnke had 52 digs and eight aces for North.

Taylee Jones added 11 kills and seven blocks, Kayden Lamon had 12 kills and four blocks, Lydia Koshuta had six aces, 10 assists and 29 digs, and Shayna Williamson had six kills and four blocks.

“It was great to see our girls compete against the top teams in the state and step up to the challenge,” North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “Our team has shown so much growth the last two weeks and I am excited for our conference schedule to start.”

Xavier finished in third place, going 3-0 in pool play on Friday and 2-1 on Saturday.

On Saturday, Xavier defeated Waukesha West 25-19, 25-15; defeated Arrowhead 25-18, 25-17; and lost to Divine Savior Holy Angels 22-25, 25-20, 10-15.

Xavier was led in assists by Mariah Potter with 49. Belle Shea had 28 digs. Halle Vande Hey had 19 kills and 14 digs. Mattea Kiepert had 12 kills. Annika Kowalski had 22 kills and 12 digs. Olivia Neumann had nine kills and 10 blocks. Madison Daley had seven kills, eight blocks and six digs.

Kimberly also competed at the Joust.

In pool play on Friday, Kimberly lost to Howards Grove 21-25, 16-25; lost to Pewaukee 9-25, 14-25; and beat Germantown 25-18, 25-18. On Saturday, Kimberly lost to Brookfield East 19-25, 19-25; beat St. Thomas More 25-15, 25-13; and lost to West Bend West 25-20, 19-25, 5-15.

The Papermakers were led by Ava Van Vonderen with 38 kills and Ava Reis with 37. Eliana Bies had 13 block assists while Kendyll Brochtup had nine. Ava Van Hammond had 49 assists. Emma Tesch had 42. Ava Van Camp had 47 digs.

Beast of the Bay Invitational

GRAND CHUTE - Fox Valley Lutheran finished 6-1 in the tournament and took first place in the Gold 2 Bracket.

After winning pool on Friday, the Foxes finished second in the first round of bracket play, beating New Berlin West 2-0 and dropping a match to Holmen 2-1. In the final bracket, the Foxes finished in first, beating Freedom 2-0 and defeating Luxemburg-Casco 2-0 in the championship.

Annalise Patchett had 31 kills and 29 digs for Fox Valley Lutheran. Ava Patchett had 43 assists and 18 digs, Molly Bixby had 42 assists and Riley Schmitz had 74 digs. Emma Nilson had 27 kills and 10 blocks while Sophie Wunderlich had 14 kills.

Oconto Falls finished in third place.

The Panthers beat Kaukauna and Freedom in their crossover bracket to earn a spot in the top four Gold Bracket. They ended the tournament losing to Holmen.

Izzy Otto had 64 assists, 28 digs and six aces, Morgan Moynihan had 39 assists and 27 digs, Amber Otto had 61 kills, 33 digs and eight aces, and Lucy Ripley had 38 kills and eight blocks for Oconto Falls. Kyndra Staidl added 55 digs and seven aces, Bailey Gorman had 12 kills and Hailyn St. Louis had eight aces.

Luxemburg-Casco finished sixth out of 32 teams in the tournament.

In pool play, the Spartans beat Ripon 2-0, Kingsford 2-0 and West Salem 2-0. In Saturday’s bracket play, Luxemburg-Casco beat Green Bay Southwest 2-0, lost to Hortonville 2-0, beat Edgewood 2-1 and lost to Fox Valley Lutheran.

“It was a good start to the season,” Luxemburg-Casco coach Jeff Frey said. “We have some growing pains that we are going through with some injuries and girls being in new spots, but the effort was there and I thought the girls battled all weekend. There were a lot of good things to build off of and things to learn from, all things you are looking for from opening weekend of the season.”

Alayna Deprez had 67 assists and 30 digs for L-C. Erin Cherovsky had 44 assists and 29 digs, Aubrey Frey had 51 kills, 39 digs and 10 aces. Miranda Schmidt had 21 kills and nine blocks. Ella VanderVelden had 19 kills and 10 blocks and Brooke VandeHei had 64 digs.

Pulaski went 1-2, losing to St. Mary’s Springs 21-25, 13-25; beating Wittenberg-Birnamwood 25-23, 14-25, 15-10; and losing to West De Pere 14-25, 23-25.

Alexia Thibodeau led Pulaski with 16 kills. Reese Lardinois and Lauren Kellner had nine and seven kills, respectively.

Pulaski’s digs leaders were Thibodeau and Brin Lemense. Both had 18. Bella Valdez had 34 kills.

Omro Invitational

OMRO - St. Mary Catholic went 5-0 and won the invitational.

The Zephyrs defeated Bonduel 25-14, 27-25; Omro 25-16, 25-14; and Green Bay West 25-10, 25-13 in pool play. In the semifinals, St. Mary Catholic defeated Westfield 25-13, 25-12. In the finals, the Zephyrs faced Bonduel and won 25-15, 25-15.

Lauren Fischer led St. Mary Catholic with 23 kills and 23 digs. Audrey Norville had 17 kills and 29 digs. Sammie Weiss had 40 assists and 16 digs. Stella Virless had 35 assists, 19 digs and nine aces.

Green Bay East Invitational

GREEN BAY - NEW Lutheran took third place with a 3-2 overall record.

The Blazers in pool play beat Shiocton 25-21, 20-25, 16-14; lost to Berlin 13-25, 25-16, 13-15; and beat New London 25-16, 25-18.

In the gold bracket, NEW Lutheran lost to Southern Door 25-23, 20-25, 13-15 and then beat Plymouth 25-19, 18-25, 16-14.

Emma Laatsch had 51 kills, 27 digs and nine aces for NEW Lutheran. Lexie Meerstein had 26 kills. Abby Kirchner had 78 assists, 11 aces and 11 blocks. Lexi Dhein had 92 digs. Kiera Adams had 14 kills.

Berlin took first place, with Southern Door in second place.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Kettle Moraine Invitational

WALES - Kimberly went 4-1 and finished ninth in the 24-team field.

In pool play, the Papermakers beat Kenosha Tremper 25-9, 25-22 and lost to Germantown 24-26, 25-21, 15-17.

In bracket play, Kimberly beat Kenosha Indian Trail 25-14, 25-14; beat Waukesha West 25-14, 25-20; and beat New Berlin United 25-23, 25-20.

Lucas Eckrose led Kimberly with 27 kills and 19 digs. Owen Krause had 22 kills while Brady Koester had 25 kills and six blocks. Gage Stahmann had 84 assissts and 17 digs. Michael Janssen had 20 kills and eight blocks. Kameron Kemp had 27 digs and Cayden Zahringer had 25 assists.

BOYS SOCCER

Appleton East 2, Stevens Point 0

STEVENS POINT - The Patriots scored two goals in the second half for the nonconference win.

Alexis Vera scored in the 67th minute and Max Ransom scored in the 70th minute.

Patriots freshman goalie Jack Benz made seven saves.

Pulaski 3, Onalaska 0

ONALASKA - The Red Raiders scored three goals in the second half in the nonconference win.

After a scoreless first half, Pulaski (1-2-0) got goals in the 42nd and 54th minute from Maddox McKeefry. A final goal in the 69th from Tate Gerth sealed the victory for the Red Raiders.

Zach Brodhagen and Brayden Carr tallied assists for Pulaski.

The Red Raiders outshot the Hilltoppers 8-1. Pulaski goalkeepers Josh Roth and Jonah Drevs combined in goal for the shutout win.

D.C. Everest 2, Appleton North 0

APPLETON - The Evergreens’ Aissen Witter had six saves in shutting out the Lightning.

D.C. Everest scored its goals in the first half with Lucas Rickert and Landon Gray finding the back of the net.

Ethan Nadboralski had three saves for Appleton North.

Green Bay Preble 2, Eau Claire Memorial 0

GREEN BAY - Tristen Shanoski and Yosef Navarro scored off corner kicks to lead the Hornets to the win over the Old Abes.

Jack Thorpe had three saves to get the shutout for Green Bay Preble (3-0).

Hortonville 4, Marshfield 0

MARSHFIELD - Nathan Bolling had 10 saves in the Polar Bears’ win over the Tigers.

Charlie O’Brien scored twice for Hortonville with Owen Veder and Dylan Glad scoring the other goals.

Marshfield goalkeeper Zak Meyer had 11 saves.

Luxemburg-Casco 2, Algoma 0 (Friday)

LUXEMBURG - Johan Amador and Reese Barbiaux scored in the 42nd and 70th minute, respectively, in the Spartans’ win over the Wolves.

Quentin Massart had two saves for Luxemburg-Casco.

NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation/Providence Academy 20, Belmont 12

BELMONT - Bryce Liebzeit had 20 carries for 177 yards and a touchdown to lead the United over the Braves.

Josh Kribs added seven carries for 39 yards and two touchdowns.

Logan Nichols had 16 tackles with a forced fumble. Griffin Steffel had six tackles and an interception.
