Sanford-Fritch’s Hallie White, Claude’s Taylor Wiseman highlight top Panhandle performers

Here are the best of the best from the last week of high school sports action in and around the Panhandle.

Hallie White, Sanford-Fritch, Softball

The entire team was great, but White had the best performance of all going 4 for 4 with four RBI and three runs scored.

Brayden Freeman, Sanford-Fritch, Track

Recorded two first-place finishes with gold in the 100 and 200 at regionals.

Abree Winfrey, Canyon, Track

Took home a pair of gold medals as the Lady Eagles won the regional meet.

Andi Holland and Javon Lee, Claude, Track

Each won gold medals and qualified for state.

Taylor Wiseman, Childress, Track

Won gold in shot put at Region I-3A meet.

Nathan Baker, Randall, Track

Won gold in the boys 100 to help Randall clinch a regional title.

Brycen Williams, West Plains, Track

Freshman won gold in high jump at regionals.

Makenna Byrd, Wildorado, Track

Won gold in the 100 hurdles.

Ke'Mauri Pinkard, Tascosa, Track

Won gold in long jump and triple jump.

Briana Vargas, Dumas, Softball

Went 3-for-4 in a 14-3 win over Andrews.

Mikaila Gilliland, Canyon, Softball

Went 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs in the second game of a series sweep against Pecos.

Zabian Urtega, Canyon, Baseball

Went 2-for-3 with four RBI in a win over Dumas.

Sidney Soria, Randall, Softball

Went 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs against Greenwood.

Tatem Pendergraft, Amarillo High, Softball

Went 3-for-4 with four runs and five RBI in a game against Lubbock-Cooper and followed it up with a 3-for-3 game with three runs and four RBI in another game against Cooper.

Cannon Davis, Amarillo High, Baseball

Went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI against Plainview.

Brylee Adams and Abby Howell, Bushland, Softball

Howell went 4-for-6 with four runs and nine RBI with three home runs. Adams went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI including three homers while throwing a no-hitter in five innings against Lubbock Roosevelt.

Wilson Ward, Clarendon, Baseball

Struck out seven in five innings in a win over Memphis.

Maecie Hawthorne, Pampa, Softball

Went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a home run in a win over Monahans.

Mason Gilbert, Randall, Baseball

Went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs against Pampa.

Luke Grajeda and Azriel Vargas, Sunray, Baseball

Against Boys Ranch, Vargas went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Grajeda went 4-for-4 and struck out seven on the mound. Vargas also finished 3-for-5 against West Texas Stinnett.

Bradley Cepeda, West Plains, Baseball

Went 3-for-3 with two RBI against Pampa.

Dawson Jaco and Josh Bass, Bushland, Baseball

Against Dalhart, Bass went 2-for-5 with two RBI while Jaco was 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. They combined to allow just one hit while striking out six. The next game, Bass went 4-for-4 with four RBI and four runs while Jaco pitched two innings, striking out four and not allowing a hit.

Brooks Satterfield, Gruver, Baseball

Went 2-for-3 with two runs against Sanford-Fritch.

Carlos Duran, Marcos Acosta and DJ Ramirez, Hereford, Baseball

Ramirez went 4-for-5 with three runs, Duran went 3-for-5 while striking out 12 on the mound, and Acosta was 3-for-3.

Carolyn Koval, Ava Sharpe and Sidnee Kane, River Road, Softball

In the first game against Slaton, Koval struck out seven batters while not allowing a hit, went 5-for-5, scored four runs and hit seven RBI with a pair of homers. Sharp went 4-for-4 with four runs and a homer that game too while Kane was 4-for-5 with three runs. In the second game, Sharp hit two home runs while striking out seven from the circle.

Kelton Brown and Wade Bryant, Amarillo High, Tennis

The pair won state in boys doubles.

Morgan Rose and Eleanor Archer, Amarillo High, Tennis

Won state in girls doubles.

K'Linda Mason and Brandon Ysaguirre, Hereford, Tennis

Won state in mixed doubles.
