Scores for Salem-area teams in the 2024 OSAA 5A and 4A state basketball tournaments
Five Salem-area basketball teams will continue postseason play in the OSAA Class 5A and 4A state tournaments this week with one team aiming to add its third-straight title.
Here is a roundup of local teams competing in state tournaments.
Scores will be updated as games are played.
5A girls - Silverton
No. 1 Silverton (21-4, 17-1) beat No. 2 Crater (25-1, 12-0) 61-60 in overtime to win the 5A championship Saturday night at Linfield University in McMinnville.
The feat marked Silverton's fourth state title and first since 2016.
Silverton punched its ticket to the 5A state title game by defeating No. 5 Redmond (22-4, 14-1) 48-29 in the semifinals at Linfield on Friday night.
Silverton beat No. 8 Mountain View (19-6, 13-2) 53-40 in the quarterfinals Thursday.
5A boys - Woodburn
No. 4 Woodburn (22-4, 17-1) beat No. 6 Putnam (22-4, 14-2) 67-37 to finish in third place in the 5A state tournament Saturday at Linfield University in McMinnville.
Woodburn fell to No. 1 Summit 48-33 in the 5A semifinals Friday afternoon at Linfield.
Woodburn clinched the victory against No. 5 West Albany (22-5, 16-2) 54-52 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
4A girls - Cascade
No. 4 Cascade (17-7, 8-2) beat No. 3 Philomath (21-5, 8-2) 35-33 to finish in third place in the 4A state tournament on Saturday at Forest Grove High School.
Cascade fell to No. 1 Astoria (22-4, 12-0) 45-36 in the semifinals Friday night at Forest Grove.
Cascade beat No. 5 Klamath Union (17-3, 7-1) 51-28 in the quarterfinals Thursday.
4A girls - Stayton
No. 9 Stayton (19-4, 8-2) fell to No. 1 Astoria (21-4, 12-0) in the 4A quarterfinals 54-49 Thursday at Forest Grove High School.
Stayton lost to No. 5 Klamath Union (18-4, 7-1) 42-36 in a consolation game on Friday.
4A boys - Cascade
After two-straight seasons of claiming the 4A state title, No. 1 Cascade (20-4, 9-1) beat No. 6 Marist Catholic (17-7, 7-1) 63-53 to finish in third place in the state tournament Saturday at Forest Grove High School.
The Cougars saw their championship campaign come up short as Cascade fell to No. 4 Baker (26-1, 6-0) 74-54 in the semifinals on Friday at Forest Grove.
Cascade beat No. 8 Madras (18-6, 8-2) 62-36 in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Cascade topped Philomath 61-52 in the 2023 title game and beat Junction City 42-30 to win the 2022 championship.
