College baseball: Another Frazier headed to Rutgers Hall of Fame. See who else is going in

Now there will be two Fraziers in the Rutgers Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2023 honorees will include Jeff Frazier, a member of Toms River baseball royalty who went on to play with the Detroit Tigers, and Jackson’s Katie Batiuk, who starred in women’s lacrosse for the Scarlet Knights.

Other inductees include: Missouri native Rita Kay Thomas (athletic administrator); Robert Galbraith (men’s swimming & diving); George Peter Savidge (men’s lacrosse); and the undefeated 1976 football team that finished No. 17 in the final Associated Press rankings.

The 2023 Hall of Fame induction will be Friday, Sept. 29 at the East Brunswick Hilton, with the inductees recognized a day later at SHI Stadium when Rutgers hosts Wagner.

Like his younger brother, Todd, inducted into the Rutgers Hall of Fame in 2019, Jeff Frazier excelled at every level, reaching the Little League World Series with Toms River East American in 1995, and an NJSIAA state final at Toms River South.

At Rutgers, Frazier left a strong legacy, which began when he belted a program-record 13 homers as a freshman, named a Freshman All-American by Baseball America. He went on to earn first team All-Big East honors in 2003 and 2004, when he was second team All-American. He was named a 2004 finalist for the Dick Howser Award, given to college baseball’s top player.

Frazier set a Toms River South record with 32 career wins as a pitcher, going 13-3 as a senior in 2001.

A 2007 All-American, Batiuk, a midfielder, finished her career at Rutgers with 160 goals, 56 assists, 75 caused turnovers and 120 draw controls.

At Jackson Memorial, Batiuk finished as the all-time Shore Conference leader with 314 goals, to go with 170 assists. She scored 118 goals and added 53 assists as a senior in 2003.
