Rutgers field hockey adds former Temple star Julianne Kopec

On Wednesday, Rutgers field hockey upgraded their roster for next season with the addition of Julianne Kopec. The New Jersey native is transferring to Rutgers from Temple and was previously an all-conference and all-region selection. After two seasons in the Big East, she takes her talents to the Big Ten.

During her time with the Owls, Kopec started in 27 games, scoring 11 goals. She also recorded 22 points and came through in clutch situations with five game-winning goals. Due to her previous success, many in Piscataway, including Rutgers head coach Meredith Civico are excited to see the impact she will make.

“Joining us as a transfer, Julianne already has had a taste of NCAA hockey,” Civico told Rutgers athletics. “I have no doubt she can make an impact as she competes in the Big Ten. Fast, strong on the ball and with an eye for goal, Julianne can play in a variety of positions, and in each in she will give her all.”

As Kopec prepares for her first season as a Scarlet Knight, she will look to add to an already impressive resume. Her list of accolades includes a Big East Freshman of the Week award and two Big East Weekly Honor Roll placements.

Additionally, she was previously invited to the USA Field Hockey 2023 and U-21 Development Squad Selection Camp. Kopec was selected following her performance at the 2022 Senior Nexus Championship.

While the season is still months away, the addition of Kopec has created a lot of excitement for the future at Rutgers.
