Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant carry Thunder past Suns

Russell Westbrook scored 28 points and recorded eight rebounds to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a blowout victory over the Phoenix Suns, 112-88. The Thunder shot 39-80 (48.8%) from the field and controlled the offensive glass with 14 rebounds. Oklahoma City (11-13) is now on a six-game winning streak, dating back to a 103-91 win against Philadelphia 76ers on December 5th.

Westbrook shot 7-18 (1-4 from three-point range) and 13-13 from the free throw line. Other top performers for Oklahoma City were Kevin Durant with 23 points and eight rebounds, and Anthony Morrow with 14 points and six rebounds. On 5-13 shooting, including 3-7 from behind the arc, Gerald Green scored 15 points for Phoenix in the loss. He also tallied seven rebounds.

The Suns posted an eFG% of just 37.9%, including 22.6% from 3-point range. This year, they are 1-3 when they record marks below 45% and 30% in those respective categories. On the other hand, the Thunder are 4-5 when holding their opponents to such low percentages.

Phoenix (12-13) has now dropped their last five straight games.

Coming up next, the Thunder play the Sacramento Kings, who are 11-13 on the year. The Suns match up with the Milwaukee Bucks, currently 12-12 this season. The Thunder are 1-0 versus Sacramento this season.
