Royals host autograph session at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — To celebrate Black history month, the Kansas City Royals are partnering with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to offer free admission to the museum.
As a part of the month, Royals legend Willie Aikens and Chiefs receiver Danan Hughes were signing autographs and taking pictures.

“Being here to celebrate Black history month is our favorite thing so we’re just so glad we get to support it,” Emerson Peavey with the Royals said.
“You see the smiles when the kids walk away, you know that they met a legend of Kansas City.”
The line to meet the two athletes was never empty, leaving an impact on Hughes’ perspective of the museum. “The fact that they are interested in that is pretty awesome,” he said. “Baseball is my first love, still is my first love, so any time I can get down here to the Negro Leagues Museum, I try to make the most of it.”
The event comes just days after the Royals started spring training in Arizona. “They’re all getting excited so we’re feeling baseball in the air,” Peavey said.
Hughes said that the signing of Bobby Witt Jr. to a long-term contract is getting fans excited. The announcement of the Royals intention to build a stadium in the Crossroads is exciting for him. “I think it’ll be an incredible infusion of energy. I think what we’ll see downtown in a few years will be incredible.”
