Rouse has lost only once in the postseason so far.
Miller ripped his triple to right and scored on an error in the top of the second. Victoria East tied the game in the bottom of the inning, but Salazar’s hit that scored Rayner Heinrich and Jacob Soliz in the third gave the Raiders the lead for good. Miller singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the seventh for Rouse’s final insurance run.
Heinrich finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Game 2 is Friday at 5 p.m. at Northside ISD baseball field 2 in San Antonio, with Game 3 to follow if necessary.
