Ross shows signs of rust in rookie mini-camp

One of the hottest players of discussion on social media, Justyn Ross signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, has been big news around the NFL.

As a surprise to many, Ross went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft with concerns about his health being a major red flag for teams. With a congenital fusion in his spine, this likely dropped him off of draft boards completely.

Though it wasn’t part of the plan, this could end up being a blessing for the young wide receiver as he got to choose which team he’d work with to earn a roster spot. He chose a team in the Chiefs with a world-class head coach and quarterback in Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

Pairing a former projected first round pick with a wide receiver needy Patrick Mahomes has sent social media into a frenzy and understandably why. There is just a rust factor Ross is dealing with coming off of stress fracture in his foot.

Sure, rust isn’t a positive thing, but it is positive that Reid and the coaching staff understand why he is dealing with it. Ross dealt with a lot in his last couple of seasons with the Tigers, and there’s no doubt that he’s still working his way back to 100%.

The Chiefs have gotten a taste of what Ross can do early, and there are no surprises on why Reid would be confident in his talent heading into the future. As of right now, I’d say we’ve got a strong chance of seeing Ross make the Chiefs’ 53-man roster.

Ross has the talent to be a star in the NFL. Right now, Ross needs to keep shaking off the rust and show off that talent he oozes while remaining healthy.
