Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for LSU at Alabama

We have reached our favorite part of the week (besides gameday) where the staff here at Roll Tide Wire gets together and provides their game preview and predictions for this week’s matchup between the No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide and the No. 14 LSU Tigers.

With a win, Alabama could almost assuredly lock up the SEC West, but a loss for the Tide would create a potential three-way tie in the West between them, LSU, and Ole Miss.

Alabama will need to play well on both sides of the ball if they want to take down Jayden Daniels and the explosive LSU offense on Saturday night.

LSU has one of the strongest offenses in the country but managed to lose two games this season largely due in part to its defense. I think this game is high-scoring, but Alabama’s defense will be able to hold its own. A constantly improving Jalen Milroe-led offense should be able to move the ball. Expect a good one.

This has the makings of a potential classic in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night. LSU’s talented offenses against Alabama’s stingy defense. Alabama’s improving offense against LSU’s underperforming defense. In the end, I believe the Tide are starting to hit their stride and play their best ball of the season. Jalen Milroe plays well, but Alabama relies on Jase McClellan and the backs to help carry them to victory.

Alabama has its best performances of the season at home against ranked opponents in the conference like Ole Miss and Tennessee. On Saturday, I fully expect that trend to continue. The Crimson Tide are eager to avenge last season’s loss. I think that Alabama’s defense will continue to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks. I think Alabama’s pass rush will be the X-factor in this year’s game.

The No. 14 ranked LSU Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa where they look to play spoiler on Alabama’s 2023 Playoff aspirations and get back to the SEC West championship for a second year in a row. The LSU offense has been dominant all year with Jayden Daniels looking like a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender, but the Crimson Tide defense will be far and away the toughest the Tigers have seen all season. With revenge on the mind, home-field advantage, and an A+ special teams unit I think the Tide will get the job done. I am excited to see what adjustments they made over the bye week.
