Road to glory: 24 Greater Taunton area players to watch this postseason

TAUNTON— The winter high school sports regular season has come to a close in the Greater Taunton area, which can only mean one thing: it's tournament time.

Eight Greater Taunton area basketball and hockey teams qualified for their respective tournaments when brackets were released by the MIAA Saturday. In Division 1 boys basketball, Taunton earned the No. 18 seed and will travel to No. 15 Needham in the Round of 32 while No. 30 Bridgewater-Raynham will host No. 35 Shrewsbury in a preliminary-round showdown. In Division 3 boys basketball, No. 32 Dighton-Rehoboth is set to host No. 33 Nipmuc in a preliminary-round showdown. In Division 1 girls basketball, Bridgewater-Raynham earned the No. 12 seed and will host No. 21 Belmont in the Round of 32 while No. 17 Taunton kicks things off with a trip to No. 16 Winchester, also in the Round of 32.

In Division 3 boys hockey, Taunton earned the No. 25 seed and will host No. 40 Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth in an all-local preliminary round game while in Division 4, No. 16 Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk will host No. 17 Hudson in the Round of 32.

With tournament action kicking off Monday, the Gazette is taking a look at 24 Greater Taunton area players looking to lead their teams to glory in the 2023-24 postseason.

Dylan Andreozzi, Dighton-Rehoboth boys basketball

The senior guard has been a consistent scoring threat for the Falcons, pouring in a season-high 29 points against Case as well as 21 against Fairhaven and 19 against Seekonk.

Brett Axon, Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk

The junior forward has been one of the Falcon Warriors' key figures on the attack all winter. Some of his most notable outings include a pair of goals and an assist against both Diman/Durfee/Westport and Blackstone Valley Tech as well as a pair of goals against both Narragansett/Chariho (R.I.) and Stoughton/Brockton.

Reese Bartlett, Bridgewater-Raynham girls basketball

The senior guard leads the Trojans in rebounds per game (5.8) and has a team second-best points (11.1) and assists (3.3) per game. Some of her most notable outings this season include 19 points, seven assists and five rebounds against New Bedford, 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists against Brookline and a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, as well as five assists, against North Quincy.

Adam Bastis, Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk

The sophomore forward has been an offensive juggernaut for the Falcon Warriors all season, recording a season-high four-goal performance against Stoughton/Brockton last week to capture the inaugural Battle of Bristol tournament. He also recorded a pair of three-goal, three-assist performances in both games against Greater New Bedford Voke.

Aidan Boothe, Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk

The senior forward is another key man in the Falcon Warrior offense, recording a hat trick and an assist against Greater New Bedford, a pair of goals and an assist against both Moses Brown (R.I.) and Greater New Bedford Voke.

Taryn Campbell, Taunton girls basketball

The sophomore forward has truly established her place as a leading offensive threat for the Tigers. Some of her most notable outings include recording 23 points against New Bedford and 21 and 20 points respectively in both games against Franklin.

Tyson Carter, Taunton boys basketball

The senior guard has played a key role in the Tigers' success this winter, recording 18 points and seven rebounds against Stoughton as well as 17 points and four steals against Foxboro and 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists against King Philip.

Jordan Dietz, Dighton-Rehoboth boys basketball

The senior guard heads into his final high school tournament coming off one of his best offensive showings after dropping 24 points on Middleboro in the regular-season finale. Earlier this winter, he recorded 18 points against Somerset Berkley as well as 16 points against Bourne.

Jillian Doherty, Taunton girls basketball

The junior forward has been another leading figure for the Tigers this winter. Some of her most notable performances include 21 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks against Holliston, 17 points against Durfee and 14 points against King Philip.

Deshawn Faulk, Bridgewater-Raynham boys basketball

The junior guard has established himself as a key part of the Trojan offense this winter, ending the season being named the Panther Classic MVP. Some of his most notable performances include recording 19 points against Brockton, 18 points against Whitman-Hanson and 17 points against Pembroke.

Conner Goranson, Taunton hockey

The senior forward has led the way offensively for the Tigers all winter. Some of his most notable outings include two goals and an assist against both Somerset Berkley and Foxboro. He also had goal and two assists against both Attleboro and Everett/Revere.

Lexi Haywood, Taunton girls basketball

The senior guard has provided some clutch 3-point shooting for the Tigers this winter, including dropping 15 points against Attleboro, 11 points against New Bedford and nine points off of three 3-pointers against Canton.

Thomas Leger, Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth

The senior forward has been key to the Hawks' success this winter, recording a hat trick and three assists against Upper Cape Tech, a goal and two assists against Tri-County and a pair of goals against Upper Cape Tech.

Bobby Louis, Bridgewater-Raynham boys basketball

The sophomore guard has emerged as a key figure for the Trojans this winter. Some of his most notable outings include recording 17 points against Pembroke, 16 points against Whitman-Hanson and 14 points against Belmont.

Aidan Marando, Dighton-Rehoboth boys basketball

The junior guard established himself as the main man on offense for the Falcons, recording 25 points against both Seekonk and West Bridgewater as well as 19 against Apponequet.

Cyrus Morrisette, Taunton boys basketball

The senior guard established himself as one of the first names on the score sheet for the Tigers this winter. Some of his most notable performances include recording 21 points against Holliston as well as 18 points against Milford, Sharon and Oliver Ames.

Noah Perry-Lewis, Bridgewater-Raynham boys basketball

The junior guard has been the leader on offense for the Trojans throughout this winter, recording 22 points against both New Bedford and Dartmouth as well as 20 points against both Mansfield and New Bedford.

Troy Santos, Taunton boys basketball

The senior guard and newest member of the Tiger 1,000 point club has led the way offensively all season. Some of his most notable outings include a double-double of 42 points and 15 rebounds, as well as six assists, against Durfee, a double-double of 33 points and 10 rebounds, as well as eight assists, against North Attleboro and 33 points, five rebounds and five assists against Mansfield.

Camden Strandberg, Bridgewater-Raynham girls basketball

The sophomore forward has had a breakout winter for the Trojans, leading the team in points per game (14.4). Some of her most notable outings include 22 points, five rebounds and two blocks against Durfee, 21 points, four rebounds and three assists against Brockton and a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, along with a pair of blocks, against Dracut.

Nick Sturdevant, Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth

The senior forward has been an offensive sparkplug for the Hawks, recording a pair of goals and an assist against South Shore Tech, a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, against Holliston and a goal and a pair of assists against Diman/Durfee/Westport.

Cam Tomaszycki, Taunton hockey

The junior goalie is one of the most talented and experienced in the area, and his impact has been key once again for the Tigers. Some of his most notable performances this winter include a season-high 37 saves against Canton, a 33 save shutout of Apponequet/Old Colony and a 30 save shutout of North Attleboro.

Jamie Vallarelli, Taunton hockey

The freshman forward has enjoyed a breakout campaign for the Tigers, recording a a pair of goals and a pair of assists against Attleboro and two goals and an assist in both games against Everett/Revere.

Cam Wilbur, Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth

The senior forward has been another key figure in the Hawks' attack this winter. Some of his most notable outings include a pair of goals against both Blue Hills and Upper Cape Tech and a goal and an assist against Tri-County.

Brenna Woodbury, Bridgewater-Raynham girls basketball

The junior guard finished the regular season leading the Trojans in assists (4.6) and steals (2.9) per game while also averaging a team third-best 9.5 points per game. Some of her most notable outings this winter include 18 points, seven assists, five rebounds and six steals against Rockland, 17 points, five rebounds, six assists and six steals against North Quincy and 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals against Dracut.
