Riverside Prep’s Raoul Churchill is the Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week
There were 37,474 votes cast this week in the race for the Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week poll winner.
It came down to the wire, and Riverside Prep’s Raoul Churchill ended with 25.54% of total votes casted by Daily Press readers.
The basketball player received 9,570 votes, beating out 15 other high school athletes from across the High Desert.
To earn a spot on the ballot, Raoul had a night for the ages in an 81-67 victory over AAE on Jan. 19.
Raoul dropped 48 points to go along with six rebounds, seven steals and two assists to lead the Silver Knights.
In two other games, both losses, he scored a combined 15 points with six assists, three rebounds and three steals.
In the voting, Raoul beat out Granite Hills’ Christopher Dominguez, who finished with 22.39% at 8,392 total votes.

Christopher had a big week for the Cougars, scoring 60 points in two victories. He scored 30 points in an 87-43 victory over Barstow on Jan. 16, and also reached that same mark in a 62-49 victory over Silverado on Jan. 18.
Leilahni Hart, a wrestler from Victor Valley, finished in third place with 16.05% at 6,014 total votes.
The nominees were selected based on performances between Jan. 15 through 20.
Nominations are based on information available to the Daily Press. All high school varsity players from the High Desert can be considered for the ballot.
Nominations must be received for consideration by Sunday morning following that week's games. Anyone can nominate an Athlete of the Week for every varsity sport.
