Richardton-Taylor closes out regular season with loss to non-district Washburn

Feb. 14—RICHARDTON — Despite a second-consecutive double-double for forward Caisen Dohrmann, the Richardton-Taylor Raiders lost at home to non-district Washburn as the regular season is winding to a close. Three Raider athletes got into double-figures in the game, but the loss drops the home team to 4-14 overall and 2-7 in Division B-District 5.

RTHS was limited to only 5 points in the opening quarter and the Cardinals took advantage of the opportunity, scoring 17 and adding 13 to it in the second quarter to take a commanding 30-16 lead into the locker room at the break.

Dohrmann scored 6 of his team-high 18 points in the first half and poured in the other 12 after halftime, while Chase Christensen converted 5-of-6 from the free-throw line and scored 9 of his 11 in the second half. Sophomore forward Kane Rivinius came alive in the second half, too, scoring 9 of his 12 total points in the final two frames. Adding to his scoreline, Dohrmann also came in with another double-double — he also registered one versus Beach on Feb. 9 — after pulling down 13 rebounds, 6 on the offensive glass.

Four Cardinal players ended up in double-digits, as Parker Jacobson led the way with a game-high 19 and Alex Retterath followed close behind with 16.

Next-up for Richardton-Taylor will be the Division B-District 5 tournament, which starts on Feb. 23 in Bowman County.
