Ric Flair's Daughter Charlotte Says He Is ‘Getting Better’

Just days after WWE legend Ric Flair was placed into a medically-induced coma before a surgery, his daughter Charlotte said the 68-year-old is "getting better." Charlotte took to her Instagram account late Sunday to give an update on her father's health after he underwent a successful surgery following his hospitalization due to a heart-related issue.

"After an incredibly hard week, my dad is getting better. There is still a long road to go and he's not out of the woods just yet but I want to again thank everyone for their support on behalf of myself and my family. My dad has given his life to sports entertainment. To everyone competing tonight, you know he'd be backstage watching if he could. Give it a little extra flair for him tonight," she wrote, echoing WWE's earlier update on Flair's health.

Flair was taken to the hospital by his family on Aug. 11 and was forced to undergo a surgery due to his "tough medical issues." Concerns about his health increased after fiancée Wendy Barlow said Thursday that Flair — inducted twice into the WWE Hall of Fame — was in a critical condition.

“Just want to give an update to my friends and Family as I have been unable to talk on the phone without crying and just feel shocked over events. I took Ric to the Hospital Friday night with severe abdominal pain," Barlow said, according to TMZ. “From that moment it all seems like a nightmare…multiple organ problems. Not to go into too many details I want everyone to know he still needs prayers as he is still in critical condition."

On Saturday, Melinda Morris Zanoni, CEO of Legacy Talent and Entertainment, said Flair had “complications so [he] needs to rest for the first time in 40 years.” The next day, she wrote on Facebook that “there has not been an official Ric Flair update, but that has led to a lot of false information. Don’t believe everything you read.” She added that Flair “did cut a promo on a nurse,” which “is a very good sign.”

“On behalf of Ric THANK YOU for all the outpouring of prayers and well wishes (although the offers for a kidney seemed a little excessive) :) The man outlived both a plane crash and being struck by lightening [sic]…he is a survivor. Beyond grateful for all the love and respect sent Ric’s way,” she wrote.

Last week, WWE also provided an update on Flair’s health via lead commentator Michael Cole during the first hour of “Monday Night Raw.”

“As many of you are aware, WWE Hall of Famer The Nature Boy Ric Flair has battled a number of health issues over the past couple of days,” Cole told the audience. “But we can report tonight that Ric underwent successful surgery earlier today. However, he is not out of the woods yet. Our thoughts and prayers are going out to Ric and his family in Atlanta tonight.”
