This RI trio brought home the New England Jr. Amateur girls golf title

They’ve spent the better part of the last three months battling each other. This week, they joined forces.

Kylie Eaton, Adriana Eaton and Olivia Williams proved to be quite the power trio. That golfing contingent from Rhode Island brought home the New England Junior Amateur girls team title Wednesday, holding off Connecticut over two days in New Hampshire.

Kylie Eaton was the individual winner by four shots and Rhode Island beat Connecticut by six at Mount Washington Resort Golf Club. Eaton was the only player in the girls field to finish in red numbers, closing at 2-under. New Hampshire native Carys Fennessy was the runner-up at 2-over.

Eaton and her sister did the heavy lifting through Tuesday’s 36 holes and Williams added a finishing touch in Wednesday’s morning 18. She carded a 2-over 74 while both Eaton sisters shot 75 to seal the title. Rhode Island’s team total of 5-over came home comfortably ahead of Connecticut’s 11-over.

Two scores from each team counted toward the total at the end of each round. Kylie Eaton turned in an even-par 72 on Tuesday morning before catching fire in the afternoon. Her 5-under 67 was the girls round of the tournament, a flawless performance that included five birdies and no bogeys. Adriana Eaton provided the second score in each Tuesday round, closing at 75 and 74.

Kylie Eaton was the first member of the group to break through. The multisport star at Moses Brown captured the Rhode Island Golf Association Junior Amateur title in 2021 and the Women’s Amateur crown in 2022. She graduated from the Quakers an All-State athlete in girls golf, girls tennis and girls track and field.

Williams followed soon after enrolling at La Salle Academy. She was the Interscholastic League girls champion in her first year in 2022 and has helped the Rams to team titles in each of her first two seasons. Williams has added three significant Rhode Island Golf Association crowns during that short span — back-to-back Junior Amateur titles in 2022 and 2023 and her first Women’s Amateur championship last weekend at Kirkbrae Country Club.

Adriana Eaton wasted no time joining the ranks of the elite this spring in her first year at Moses Brown. She fired an opening 73 at Cranston Country Club and held off a charging Williams on the second day for the Interscholastic League crown. Eaton reached the Junior Amateur semifinal at Ledgemont and the Women’s Amateur final last week at Kirkbrae to help highlight her summer.

Rhode Island’s boys finished tied for fourth with Maine. Massachusetts ran away with the team crown by 20 shots, closing at 33-under. The winners finished under par in all three rounds, including double digits under par in each of their 18-hole circuits on Tuesday.

Max Jackson was the state’s top individual at 3-over, which landed him in 15th place. The two-time Interscholastic League champion and two-time team champion with La Salle turned in a pair of even-par rounds over two days. Cole Vieira and Ryan Marcantonio tied for 16th, one shot back at 4-over, and Rocco Capalbo closed tied for 18th at 5-over.
