Results from 2023 Palace City Kiwanis half marathon, 10K and 5K

Oct. 1—MITCHELL — A warm, breezy morning greeted runners during the 2023 Palace City Kiwanis half marathon, relay, 10K and 5K, the sixth annual running of the event.

Mitchell's Kenny Maas, age 41, won the male half marathon with a time of 1 hour, 36 minutes and 20 seconds, while Sioux Falls' Carrie Hughes, 39, won the female half marathon with a time of 1:40:30 and finished third overall.

Tanner Butler, 32, from Huron, was the top finisher in the male 10K at 49 minutes and 26 seconds, with Niki Maag, 47, of Sioux Falls, taking the top spot among females and third overall in a time of 55:50.

In the 5K, Craig Halverson, 43, of Omaha, Nebraska, finished first among males with a time of 22 minutes and 11 seconds, as Sarah Neubert, 42, also of Omaha, had the top female time and was sixth overall at 23:21.
