Reports: Cardinals agree with ex-Giants OL Pugh

The Arizona Cardinals will sign former New York Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh, according to multiple reports Friday.

Per NFL Network, the deal will be for five years and just over $45 million, which would put Pugh's annual average in the top 10 among NFL guards.

Pugh, 27, played primarily guard for the Giants after being drafted in the first round in 2013, but he also spent time at tackle, mostly on the right with the occasional cameo on the left side. He has started in all 63 of his NFL appearances, but he hasn't played in all 16 games since his rookie campaign. Pugh missed eight games in 2017 while fighting a back injury.

The Cardinals signed Andre Smith -- who has mostly played right tackle for the Bengals and Vikings in the past -- to a two-year, $8 million deal earlier this week. They also re-signed reserve lineman Vinston Painter and agreed to a pay cut with guard Mike Iupati.

Pugh joins Weston Richburg as Giants O-linemen who have departed this offseason, and another could follow as D.J. Fluker is a free agent. New York has reloaded up front with free-agent deals for tackle Nate Solder and guard Patrick Omameh.
