Days after a heartbreaking loss to Duke in the NCAA tournament, Virginia Tech is saying goodbye to the coach who has built the program into a consistent winner in the ACC.

Buzz Williams is leaving Virginia Tech for Texas A&M, according to multiple reports.

Williams expected to be introduced Thursday

Texas A&M is expected to introduce Williams on Thursday, and he is planning to meet with Aggies players Wednesday night, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, who broke the news.

Williams joined Virginia Tech in 2014 after six seasons at Marquette that saw him lead the Golden Eagles to five NCAA tournament appearances.

In his first season at Virginia Tech, the Hokies finished with an 11-22 record. Since then, the Hokies have posted four straight winning seasons with at least 20 wins and made the NCAA tournament in each of the last three seasons.
