Reports: Arizona Cardinals sign veteran wide receiver Zay Jones

The Cardinals have reportedly signed veteran wide receiver Zay Jones to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports Friday afternoon.

Jones made a recent free-agent visit to the Cardinals and chose them over several teams, including the most recent Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Jones, 29, has played for three other teams — Buffalo, Las Vegas and Jacksonville.

He gives the Cardinals another tall target (6-foot-2) for quarterback Kyler Murray, and the wide receiver position is now crowded with 13 players on the roster once the Jones signing is made official. Jones had 82 catches for 823 yards in 2022 with the Jaguars, including five touchdowns.

The yards and receptions are career highs for the seven-year veteran.

Jones battled leg and hamstring injuries last season and was limited to nine games. He also was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery causing bodily harm last November, according to the Florida Times-Union, but released when he posted bond. The charges were dropped in March by Florida officials, according to multiple reports.

The Jaguars released Jones on May 1.
