Report: Vikings have inquired on Sean Murphy-Bunting

As the Minnesota Vikings gear up for free agency, they find themselves with several areas that require attention, including the cornerback position.

According to a recent report by Darren Wolfson of KSTP during an appearance on the Vikings Happy Hour podcast, the team wasted no time in reaching out about Sean Murphy-Bunting. Having played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the last four seasons, they reached out as soon as the legal tampering period began.

Murphy-Bunting is listed as Pro Football Focus’ 133rd-best free agent this offseason and finished last season as the 26th-best corner. He would certainly help fill a need for the Vikings, especially after the recently released Cam Dantlzer.

Murphy-Bunting is one of the younger cornerbacks on the free agent market and is set to turn 26 years old this offseason. He’s also an intriguing player given his versatility to play in the slot or outside, which is important in Brian Flores’ scheme.

While the Vikings have yet to make a formal offer to Murphy-Bunting, their interest is definitely noteworthy and something to keep an eye on as free agency continues.
