Report: Vasilije Micic in OKC for potential contract talks

The Oklahoma City Thunder could add an international star to their roster soon.

Former EuroLeague MVP and two-time champion Vasilije Micic is in OKC to talk about potentially signing an NBA deal, per Eurohoops’ Aris Barkas.

The Thunder currently own his draft rights, but they could potentially move him in a deal as the 29-year-old will likely have a market.

With the draft on Thursday, the Thunder could potentially trade Micic as a draft trade piece. A possible contract could be agreed upon following the draft for Micic.

This isn’t the first time Micic has been linked with the Thunder, as he’s reportedly shown interest in making the jump to the NBA over the last couple of offseasons. Instead, he’s elected to stay overseas following successful contract negotiations with his EuroLeague club.

The decorated guard has spent the last four seasons with the Anadolu Efes. In 34 games last season, Micic averaged 17.5 points on 46.1% shooting, 4.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds. He also shot 33.9% from 3.

The Thunder acquired Micic’s rights from the 2020 Al Horford trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted him 52nd overall in the second round of the 2014 NBA draft.
