Report: Terrell Suggs expected to leave Ravens for Cardinals
Terrell Suggs has reportedly played his final game in a Baltimore Ravens uniform.
The seven-time Pro Bowl pass rusher and 2011 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is leaving the team in free agency and is expected to sign with the Arizona Cardinals, NFL Network reports.
End of an era in Baltimore
Suggs was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2003 with Baltimore, where he has played his entire 16-year career, winning a Super Bowl after the 2012 season.
It marks a homecoming of sorts for Suggs, who played college football at Arizona State. It also marks the end of an era in Baltimore, where Suggs was the last prominent player remaining from the dominant Ravens defenses that also featured Hall of Famers Ed Reed and Ray Lewis.
Suggs still productive
Suggs, 36, started all 16 games for the Ravens last season, tallying 34 tackles, seven sacks, six passes defensed and a forced fumble. He also returned a fumble 43 yards for a touchdown while registering 15 quarterback hits, remaining a disruptive force in Baltimore’s pass rush.
Suggs’ 132.5 career sacks rank 13th on the NFL’s all-time list.
