Report: Second year QB Reid Sinnett attending Dolphins rookie minicamp

When the Miami Dolphins’ rookies arrive this weekend at the team facilities for rookie minicamp, they’ll be greeted by a quarterback who went through this very same process for the first time last year. We aren’t talking about Tua Tagovailoa, however, we’re talking about 2020 third-string quarterback Reid Sinnett — who appears well positioned to maintain that role for the Dolphins once again in 2021 after the Dolphins signed Jacoby Brissett to take Ryan Fitzpatrick’s spot in the Dolphins’ quarterback room.

The report confirming Sinnett’s attendance at rookie minicamp comes courtesy of Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald:

Sinnett dressed for games on Sunday twice during his rookie season in Miami: once in Week 12 against the New York Jets with Tua Tagovailoa sidelined with an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand and again in Week 17 when Ryan Fitzpatrick was deemed ineligible to play after a positive test for COVID-19. But the undrafted rookie out of the University of San Diego failed to see game action in any instance. The Dolphins would be unfortunate to see any of Sinnett in action again this season, too — as such would indicate that both Tagovailoa and Brissett would be inactive with injury.

But Sinnett will be the only show in town at quarterback for the Dolphins this weekend at rookie camp, for whatever that’s worth.
