Report: Nets did not have substantial contact with Quin Snyder in coaching search
Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks denied on Tuesday that the organization had determined who will permanently replace Steve Nash, but according to a new report, work continues behind the scenes on a deal for Boston’s Ime Udoka.
Basketball writer Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reports that Marks is the driving force behind hiring Udoka, who was a finalist for the Nets job in 2016 that went to Kenny Atkinson.
“While Quin Snyder, the former Utah Jazz play-caller, had been widely mentioned as a potential candidate to replace Nash, there was no substantial contact about Snyder’s interest in the position, sources said.”
Fischer also reported Udoka was meeting with his agents on Tuesday, hours before Marks denied to reporters that the Nets had already decided on a coach.
“While there has been no official hiring, the wheels were already turning toward Udoka’s name over the weekend, and he spent Tuesday afternoon at Creative Artists Agency’s offices in Los Angeles, sources said.”
