Report: Nets agree to Two-Way deal with forward Jaylen Martin

The Brooklyn Nets have undergone a lot of changes as they have fired Jacque Vaughn and promoted Kevin Ollie to interim head coach to take his place. Coming out of the All-Star break, the Nets have been making the news in a lot of ways, including welcoming a new player to the team as well.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype on Tuesday, the Nets have agreed to a Two-Way contract with Jaylen Martin. Martin, 20, played his high school basketball in Florida before foregoing college basketball to play in the Overtime Elite league during the 2022-23 season for Ollie, who was the head of coaching and player development for the league during that time.

During his time in the OTE, Martin played so well that he finished second in the league’s Most Improved Player award voting after leading his team to the championship game with averages of 14.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. Martin went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, but signed a Two-Way contract with the New York Knicks following the draft.

While Martin never appeared in a game for the Knicks this season, he did play for New York’s G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. For Westchester, Martin averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 54.3% from the field and 40.4% from three-point land in 20 regular-season appearances.
