Report: Giants legend Eli Manning joins Gotham FC ownership group
It’s been widely speculated that retired New York Giants legend Eli Manning and his brother, Peyton, would soon buy into an ownership stake. And apparently, Eli has.
There is one important note, however. It’s not for an NFL team.
Multiple outlets are reporting that Manning is joining WNBA superstar Sue Bird as part of the ownership group of the NJ/NY Gotham FC, a club in the National Women’s Soccer League.
In addition to Manning and Bird, the ownership group will also consist of Kevin Durant’s investment firm, Thirty Five Ventures, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and wife, Tammy, and former U.S. women’s national soccer team star Carli Lloyd.
What share Manning is investing at remains clear, but the club is currently valued at $40 million.
Following his retirement, Manning has cast a web in a multitude of directions. Not only did he take a job with the Giants, but he also got into media as part of ESPN’s alternate Monday Night Football broadcast, the “ManningCast.”
Additionally, Manning has his own YouTube show, is creating an animated children’s show and is a partner on the private equity firm Brand Velocity Group.
