Report: Georgia closing in on TCU DL coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe for OLB job

Georgia football is expected to fill the void at outside linebacker coach left by Dan Lanning with TCU defensive line coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe, according to multiple reports.

Lanning, who also served as co-defensive coordinator on top of coaching outside linebackers, left after UGA’s national championship to take the head coaching position at Oregon, leaving a void that coach Kirby Smart and staff needed to fill.

Uzo-Diribe racked up 20 sacks, 31 tackles for loss, and 10 forced fumbles on Colorado’s defensive line before graduating in 2014 and serving as a graduate assistant with the Buffalos, before joining Les Miles at Kansas in 2019 and eventually serving as outside linebackers coach for the Jayhawks.

The Long Beach, Calif. joined Sonny Dykes staff at SMU in 2020 and followed the head coach from TCU last November.

UGA has reportedly offered Uzo-Diribe, who is expected to except the role and join the defending national champions in Athens.
