Report: G Johnson to sign with Rockets after buyout from Kings

Veteran guard Joe Johnson is planning to sign with the Houston Rockets after his contract buyout from the Sacramento Kings was completed Saturday, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Johnson, 36, is expected to clear waivers on Monday afternoon and then will be eligible to sign immediately with the Rockets.

The Kings acquired Johnson from the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team deal prior to the NBA trade deadline on Thursday.

Johnson is the second player to commit to signing with Rockets out of the buyout market. Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandan Wright will sign with Rockets upon clearing waivers, league sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes on Friday night.

Johnson mostly came off the bench with the Jazz this season, averaging 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 32 games. He has earned $214 million in his career -- fourth most among active players behind Dirk Nowitzki, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, according to ESPN.

Wright, 30, is in the final season of the three-year, $18 million deal he signed with the Grizzlies in 2015. He has averaged 5.0 points and 3.4 rebounds in 27 games (one start) with Memphis this season.
