Report: Former Xavier Musketeers standout Kaiser Gates signs with New Orleans Pelicans
Former Xavier Musketeers standout Kaiser Gates is signing a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to a report from NBA Insider Shams Charania.
The two-way contract allows NBA teams to carry three extra players on their regular-season roster. Gates has never appeared in an NBA game after going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. Last season with the G-League's Long Island Nets, Gates averaged 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 23.1 minutes while shooting 53.5% from the field.

Gates has also played in the G-League for the Maine Celtics and Windy City Bulls while also suiting up for Xavier's alumni team, Zip 'Em Up, in The Basketball Tournament (TBT).
Gates appeared in 97 games for Xavier from 2015-2018, making 22 starts. As a junior in 2018, the Georgia native averaged 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per night to help lead Xavier to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
