Report: Former Bengals coach Marvin Lewis interviewed with Lions

Former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis always figured to be a major name on the coaching carousel this offseason.

That’s proven true already based on reports.

According to Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo at NFL Network, the Detroit Lions “quietly” interviewed Lewis this past Thursday as they get their coaching search started.

Lewis would be a strong fit for a Lions team that fell off the map under Matt Patricia, going 6-10, 3-12-1, 5-10 and now 5-10.

Detroit isn’t the first to go after Lewis in this process though, as the Houston Texans have already announced they have interviewed him for the same position.

Given Lewis’ reputation as a guy who can come in and make a perennial loser respectable, it seems likely the Bengals could be lining up against their former coach in some capacity starting in 2021.
