Report: Cardinals signing former Texans DL Angelo Blackson to 53-man roster

The Arizona Cardinals did not claim any players off waiver but they have added help on the defensive side of the ball. According to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson, they are signing former Houston Texans defensive lineman Angelo Blackson.

They will add him to the 53-man roster, which means they will have to release a player to make room.

Blackson is listed at 6-foot-4 and 319 pounds. He was a starter last season with the Texans, playing and starting 15 games. He had 20 tackle, two for a loss, and a quarterback hit.

He was cut by Houston after rookie Ross Blacklock looks poised to take his spot.

He enters his sixth year in the NFL, having spent two years with the Tennesse Titans, who drafted him out of Auburn in the fourth round, and three with the Texans.

His addition could mean second-year defensive lineman Michael Dogbe, who made the team as a bit of a surprise, might not survive the weekend. The Cardinals could also cut another player at a different position.
