Report: Bucs restructure Mike Evans’ new contract, free up salary cap space
This is correct, though the new version of the Evans contract is what always made sense from a cap standpoint. Original was framed for non-cap accounting purposes, just in terms of whether money was paid out in 2023 league year vs. 2024. https://t.co/DrRDDuhVu4

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have restructure the new two-year contract that Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans just signed last week, Greg Auman of Fox Sports has confirmed.
From the looks of the original report that Auman is confirming, the Bucs will be converting a big chunk of his roster bonus to create more than $17 million is salary cap space.
Evans just signed his new extension to avoid hitting free agency, and it should ensure that he finishes his Hall of Fame career in Tampa Bay.
Now, fans will be waiting to see if there’s a particular move the Bucs will be making now that they’ve freed up some additional cap space.
