Report: Brooklyn Nets have agreed to deal with Patrick Gardner
The Brooklyn Nets have one Two-Way spot left to fill before next season and it’s possible that they have a player who can fill that spot.
Per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Nets have agreed to a deal with big man Patrick Gardner. As of this writing, it is unknown what kind of deal Gardner agreed to, but it’s most likely a Two-Way contract given the fact that Brooklyn used its last spot on the active roster on forward Darius Bazley.
Gardner, standing at 6-foot-11 and 245 pounds, averaged 19.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 38.3% from three-point land last season for the Marist Red Foxes. Gardner, 24, comes into the NBA as an older prospect, but that’s because he spent six years in college with two of their seasons not being played because of a medical redshirt during his 2018-19 season at Nassau (NY) Community College and his 2020-21 season being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gardner played in the NBA summer league for the Miami Heat and in three appearances, he averaged 5.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 37.5% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range. As Scotto pointed out in his tweet, Gardner will be playing for the Egyptian National Team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup later this summer.
