Report: Broncos trade edge rusher Randy Gregory to 49ers for draft compensation

Prior to a primetime battle in the NFC with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers have made a trade to add some juice to the pass rush.

The 49ers are sending a 2024 6th-round pick to the Broncos for defensive end Randy Gregory and a 2024 7th-round draft pick. In 2022, Gregory signed a five-year, $70 million deal with the Broncos in free agency. Gregory only played 10 games in Denver before the Broncos opted to trade him to the 49ers. Different rumors indicated the Broncos were on the verge of releasing the veteran pass rusher.

In 10 games with the Broncos, Gregory recorded three sacks and 21 tackles.

Gregory will now get to the rush the passer alongside Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrave in San Francisco. Bosa and Drake Jackson have combined for four sacks on the edge this season.

Prior to joining the Broncos, Gregory spent five seasons with the Cowboys. During his time with the Cowboys, Gregory notched 16.5 sacks and 23 tackles for loss. Gregory will join the 49ers just in time to meet his former team on Sunday Night Football in Week 5.
