Report: Blake Corum to have knee surgery, out for season
Michigan football had the worst injury news it could possibly have the week before facing Ohio State. While the Wolverines ended up trouncing the Buckeyes, the College Football Playoff and national championship hang in the balance, given the status of star running back Blake Corum.
Corum took a helmet to the knee late in the first half against Illinois. While he played a couple snaps against OSU, he was clearly ineffective and ended up staying on the sideline for the rest of The Game.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Corum will have knee surgery and be out for the rest of the season. That is big news considering the Big Ten Championship game is Saturday, and the Wolverines are likely participants in the College Football Playoff, regardless of what happens in Indianapolis.

While that is Rapoport’s report, depending on the surgery and severity of the injury, we’re not completely writing off Corum’s late-December, early-January availability just yet. However, if he is having surgery, it appears unlikely he will be ready for any of Michigan’s postseason appearances.
