Report: Bills among teams interested in RB Jamaal Williams

The Buffalo Bills reportedly have an eye on one running back that’s going to be a free agent.

According to Tyler Dunne from Go Long, the Bills have interest in Jamaal Williams. Buffalo is one of at least four teams that could pursue him, including his most recent club, the Detroit Lions:

Previously with the Green Bay Packers, Williams skipped over to the Lions in 2021. The 27-year-old had a fantastic season last year, surpassing the thousand-yard plateau (1,066), averaging 4.1 yards per carry with 17 touchdowns which led the NFL.

If Buffalo would chase Williams, it would be under the assumption the team has lost Devin Singletary. Like Williams, Singletary is a pending free agent and those such players can talk to prospective new teams starting this week.

A Bills and Williams price tag will likely come down to dollars and cents. Buffalo is still approximately $11 million over the 2023 salary cap following the extension the team reached with linebacker Matt Milano.

At six-foot and over 220 pounds, Williams would provide a more bellcow running back presence in the Bills offense. He would also provide a strong complement to James Cook, the smaller and quicker back that remains on the team.
